Sad eyes

Sad eyes on the smiling face,
Shy, glancing, peering deep,
Sad eyes glowing bright,
Strikes you as you sleep.

Sad eyes what do you hide?
Why the plastic smile,
When you look so deep and wide?

Sad eyes fleeting fast,
In the crowd so vast,
The sharp gaze sees past,
The distant edges last.

None sees the depth inside,
As you sweep the world
With your wilting smile.

Sad eyes, wait a while,
Fill the chasms with light,
There must at least be one,
Who will return your kind smile.
