The secret sunset

I have searched incessantly,
Time, the only witness.
Amongst the rubble of half truths,
And dripping clenched teeth,
The gem I found, was not the one
I was out in search for.
The never ending dilemma
Of when to have the curtain call.
The gem shone bright,
Under the raging afternoon sun.
The road was long and tiresome.
The ever taunting mirages
Shimmering, as they fade.

Happiness is a vision of a
Self-defined illusion.
You either dream it,
Or choose to build it.
With a smile I sat by the roadside
And waved the cars goodbye
As they streamed fast,
On to cities unknown.
Both to them and me.
Let me have my secret share,
Of blissful sunsets,
Lonesome sights cherished
Amongst deserted forests green,
Untarnished by prying eyes,
As I give my best,
For everything else.
