Nostalgia

Creeps up on you silently,
Like a vampire hunting its prey.
Courses up through the veins
With pace ever so slow,
Too mild to notice,
Till you are transfixed
In the ever-tightening grip,
Of the anaconda of past moments.
And as you reminisce with still eyes,
Your heart and mind sway
Like the swells of a cyclone’s surge.
Fleeting through brief flashes of memories old,
Some sweet, some bitter,
Which are known only to you;
Pulling heartstrings from depths forgotten.
You watch time fly by, still,
As you scroll down the Jumbled reels
Of myriads of movies you have starred in.

In the end,
You get up, to march onwards,
To the future second,
Leaving back the the ageing kilobytes
Of your fleeting memories.
With a content smile
Or perhaps a tear.

Life in motion

The green fields passed by,
As I waved goodbye,
For me, time stood still,
As I rushed to the horizon.

Burrowing down into deeper depths,
Busy, on a land afar,
Clinging on to memories frozen,
Etched deep in the soft bed.

Later, when I paused to look back,
I found that time had rolled on,
For both me and there,
Some the same, some changed.

As I navigate the old and new,
A fleeting glimpse of old
Overlays on the changed landscape,
And before long, it is time to move again.

Sunset at the mountain's edge

Once upon a time,
When the sun washed the horizons red,
The dark grey clouds rolled down.
In the blissful solitude of the mountain,
They painted scenes on the wide open plains,
Which trained masters would have envied,
And worshipped with tears of fulfilment.
Lucky was I,
To have ventured out,
And freeze time at the right moment,
To watch the cosmic wonders at play,
Before they dance away
Into the oblivion of the night.

False smiles

Smiling faces with wrinkly laughs,
The perfect lives with a blissful touch,
Oh how I wish I was you,
Bathed in silken happiness you exude.

Your simmering shadows laugh though,
Anchored deep in your ankles swollen,
Hidden by your well glistened boots,
In which you strut so gracefully about.

Inside the multicoloured piñata,
Deep sorrows float around,
Which your brilliant smile masks,
And in the shallow pool of joy you drown.

And here I split straws of could haves,
An endless circle of past and future.
The open road of unending regrets,
Is what we all roll on.
