Alone sat the gallant Knight
By the meadows green,
The others had gone to bathe
With cheers in yonder Aldweryin.
He had chosen to stay behind,
To sit by and reminisce.
The cool draft of dust free wind,
Filled him with lost peace.
The war was over but scars remain,
Underneath the armour thick.
The green today hurt his dried eyes,
At the height of health, he felt sick.
The crumbling metal long lost its shine,
Had many a tale to tell,
Lost in thought the Knight sighed,
After all, did he but fail?
At the end he had answers none,
To the questions once asked,
A thoughtless war forced by fate,
Had them all masked.
The lives they fought brave to save,
Knew not their Knight,
Now in peace at the war's end,
They had forgotten their plight.
A lot of needless blood was shed,
Of enemies and of friends,
He had shed a tear inside,
For their bitter ends.
Brave he was, swift his sword,
A demon in the field,
But at the end he thought,
Of no more reason to wield.
And as the Legend stood up firm,
From his grassy throne,
With no more banners or crest,
The setting sun finally shone.
For Venus is brightest,
When the evening sun sets,
As the creeping dusk descends,
He walked free, from all his debts.
By the meadows green,
The others had gone to bathe
With cheers in yonder Aldweryin.
He had chosen to stay behind,
To sit by and reminisce.
The cool draft of dust free wind,
Filled him with lost peace.
