One last time

When in the face of absolute defeat
You cannot afford to lose,
Tie one last time the bloodied hair,
Press onwards the path you choose.

When the glass walls crash all around,
Hopes of years seem a wasteful lie,
Stand one last time on those broken legs,
And limp on to the lands dry.

When the tides swirl too strong and fast,
And yet you must not drown,
Gulp once more a lung full of air,
And dive in the water brown.

When the winds lash too strong and loud,
And nothing to grab about,
Dig once more a muddied pool,
And ride the storm out.

It will leave you bruised, it will leave you cut,
Blessed are but a chosen few,
Don't drown in the laughter of the happy folk,
Wear proud your battle scars new.
