Stromlo reminisce

As one more layer of caked mud falls off,
Mixing into the crumpled dust of the past,
I stray back to your rolling landscape.
The expansive calm stretched wide,
Melting into the undulating horizon
Of the ever astute Brindabellas.
The foggy mists would at times hover,
Stuck between cones protruding out
Of your flat greenish midriff.
Amidst the stormy turmoil called life,
A brief dash of bliss had been
Your fiery sunsets that would greet me,
As I emerged from the daily dark cocoon,
On to your open wide bosom,
Dotted with bright fleeting nervous eyes,
And shimmering stars amidst an inverted moon.
Those few moments of peace,
Were enough recompense.
