The lost poem

I recited the best poem
While out on a stroll,
Alas, did not write it down,
And now, its long gone.

The words in patches come to me,
Like the drizzling rain,
Which hazed my vision of then,
As I trudged along the lane.

A beautiful piano in my ears,
Had opened the flood gates,
Words poured in perfect sync,
Something I can't explain.

But I remember how I felt then,
A deep sense of content,
Words spilled the dammed thoughts,
They flowed from inner veins.

I was down and broken then,
Alone as I walked,
Thoughts holed inside of me,
Tears held aloft.

Then the words that followed through,
Made me feel strong,
And as the piano picked up,
I knew I was not wrong.

"As I walk on the lonely path,
Often I do fall,
Sympathetic faces pick me up,
But I dust myself alone.
And then I keep walking,
Walking on and on,
Till I stop falling,
And keep walking on.
Hope is an intoxicating thing,
But I hope not of reconcilation,
I hope for a better me,
A better you, and a better everybody"

The words come in patches,
Not what how they had then,
But I remember how I had felt,
I had felt truly strong.
