The Blind Warriors Dead

Dining alone on his oblong table,
His Highness sat and ate.
Shadows danced on glistening floors,
The candles burnt their flames.

Silence held the lone hall long,
As his Highness strode them through,
Empty rooms and empty chairs,
Yet all shinning new.

Banished had He all servants there,
Banished were all the guards.
For he trusted not a single soul,
He had left many a scar.

Castle stood strong, a haunting rock,
Above the hills of Mehrr.
None set foot on the cobbled stones,
Save the blind warriors dead.

Looking down on far stretched land,
He ruled all land below,
None did dare to wish him wrong,
Lest the blind warriors come.

Fear He struck in the peasant's hearts,
The devil incarnate.
But if you looked at him, you would not know,
He was handsome and immaculate.

The sharpened face with blue ice eyes,
Would weaken any maiden's knee,
But neath the calm and crystal face,
Lay a darker creature free.

Often in the mist of new moon night,
Dogs would howl and yell,
All closed their shutters and their doors,
As the blind warriors fell .

Enslaved were they, once warriors strong,
Now His touch had bound them wrong,
The walking dead, eyes gorged out,
The fearsome undead band of scout.

In shadows they drowned, the darkened souls,
A tap of His hand, would bring them forth,
A hundred or more, their numbers none knew,
Dark abyss adorned where eyes once stood.
