In an Arctic night

A fresh icy breeze she brought,
As she flew in through the north,
She spread around the gentle snow,
As her carriage drew to a stop.

Splitting through the evening dark,
The pretty moon peered,
Her smile a flash of Arctic sun,
As she walked up to the stairs.

The poor old men in a dusty barn,
Stood with eyes affixed,
On the trotting glowing happy dot,
Which had landed in their midst.

The cold and icy winds outdoor,
Had robbed them of their warmth,
They hunted down the memory lane,
As they bathed the light she brought.

They ran around with all their might,
To serve her pretty grace,
For not often does a fairy land,
In their blackened desolate place.

And as they served they felt her smile,
Shining through their heart,
They forgot the icy blizzard winds,
And again dreamt of the stars.

She made them dance and sing,
And they broke their straps,
She lit the candle of happy dreams,
Which winds had blown out long back.

And then she bid her farewell,
As sharply as she had come,
She left them with their happy hearts,
As her carriage melted out.

They knew she was not meant to stay,
Yet they felt a tinge or two,
But now they dreamt of happy dreams,
As they peered into the snow.
